Five year old miniature horse Michelangelo from Hope’s Promise Farm in Chester, NJ came to visit SAGE Eldercare on May 14. This was the first visit for Michelangelo and his owner, Maureen Coultas. The horse spent time with clients of SAGE’s Spend-A-Day program and was a big hit. “There was a lot of laughter and smiling,” said Coultas. “Everyone was engaged.” According to Coultas, these equine horses, which are trained to go indoors, even ride elevators, are able to get older adults experiencing cognitive challenges to connect and interact. “It’s amazing to watch,” she said.
